Craig Drakeford is the latest Four Vines athlete that we interviewed. Craig is a determined runner who is weighing up whether to do all of the Nokkon Half Marathon, The Top Pub 10km and the 5km at Four Vines.
Why do you run?
If I’m honest, I got back into running because I’m so competitive and I like like to be in control of my own destiny. However things have changed, I still love competing with myself but I’ve grown a love for running with other people.
How long have you been running and how did you get your start?
On and off since I was a boy, but consistently for 4 years now.
What motivates you to keep running or to get through tough races?
I love setting new benchmarks, taking my body to a place I never thought it could go.
Which event are you running at the Shepparton Travel & Cruise Four Vines Running Festival and what sort of training, if any, are you planning to do in the lead up?
I’m running The Top Pub 10km, I have some unfinished business at the distance so I’ll be chasing a PB
What is your favourite event and why?
I love the Gold Coast Marathon, for so many reasons. It’s the perfect event, great weather, awesome course and extremely well organised. I also have great memories from there.
Where is your favourite place to run and why?
Anywhere I get to run with my running family.
Which groups do you run with and what makes them special?
I run with TXR and I have a small social group who I run with, the support and friendships I have developed from those groups are amazing.
What tips do you have for newer runners?
Be patient, don’t be in a rush to do too much to soon. Learn to fall in love with running as your first priority, then think about long term goals.
What is your go-to pre race meal?
What's your favourite wine?
For me it’s definitely a nice Shiraz
